I took Kaylee to her feeding therapy appointment today with the usual lunch bag of things she eats and things she will not eat. We play a game with her involving a points system. She goes through the feeding techniques and we give her "points" on a board. Today's "does not eat" item was baby carrots. She did the usual, touch them to her mouth, tongue and teeth and toss the item into the bowl. We pushed a bit further by asking her to bite the carrot which she did. Then we asked her what it would take to get her to swallow a carrot. "Money" was her reply! So, with a kind heart, as always, Miss Mel whips out her wallet and tells Kaylee she'll giver her a dollar if she'd swallow a carrot. Guess what? SHE DID IT!! Miss Mel then took out another dollar and asked Kaylee to do it again. SHE DID IT AGAIN!! We were so excited and Kaylee was so proud of her "two bucks" as she called them! On the way home, I took her to the Dollar Store so she could buy something with her "bucks". She picked out two pom pom sets - one for her and one for Jennah! WAY TO GO KAYLEE! We're all so proud of you!
Miss Mel, if you're reading this.. not to worry, I'll bring the "bucks" next week!
