How was school?

Since the girls have started school two weeks ago, every time I pick them up, I ask them "Hey, how was school today?" This afternoon, I had the following conversation with Kaylee on our way home:

Me: "So, Kaylee, How was school today?"

Kaylee: "Well, I wouldn't give it a thumbs up and I wouldn't give it a thumbs down either."

Me: "Oh, what happened?"

Kaylee: "Do you want the good news first or the bad news?"

Me: "Ummm, I'll take the good news first."

Kaylee: "Well, the good news is that I went to breakfast and I drank all my chocolate milk."

Me: "Well, that IS good news. What's the bad news?"

Kaylee: "I got a time out because my friend took my paper and I yelled at him."

Me: "Oh."

Kaylee: "But it's ok mom, I'll have another try to be good tomorrow."

Me: "Yes you will and I know you can do it."

Kaylee: "Yeah, I don't like time out because you don't get a candy treat at the end of the day and I like treats."

She just is too cute with her "do you want the good news or the bad news" bit.
