NWA Day 6&7

I missed posting last night...I was just too tired! So, here's a short recap of our day yesterday and then today's as well.

Yesterday, the girls and I slept in - of course! It is a vacation and isn't that what you're supposed to do! We then went to Red Robin for lunch. Jennah loves that place because they give you melon slices as a side item and she really likes melon! We then headed to Target just to look. Well, "just to look" cost me about 50 dollars! I found some real cute dresses for Kaylee and a cute outfit for Jennah as well. Not to mention I picked up a few things for myself! We then took a drive around town and hit the Ice Cream shop. There are so many new places that have popped up since we've been gone! For dinner, we headed to visit our friend's JP and Paola. She made a nice Curry dish for us! The kids had a ball. In fact, while they were out playing, they managed to turn on the water spigot and got soaked along with having a mud throwing "party". They were a mess! They all had baths while were visiting and then it was more playtime - only indoors this time!

Today, the girls and I met with a friend of mine who took us to see her HUGE new house! I'm so jealous! We then saw Imagine That at the local theater. It was a cute movie. After that, it was off to the mall. The girls rode the little train around the mall while I chatted with some local folks. It was very hot outside so after the train ride, we headed inside so they could ride the carousel. Then we were finally off to the hotel for Kaylee's much needed nap! We went to Abuelo's for dinner with more friends of ours and then headed off to the new grocery store to get a peek at it! Now we're here at the hotel where I'm waiting on some laundry to finish and then it's time to pack our bags. I sure miss it up here! It's sad to leave our friends again as they are much like family. I look forward to my yearly trip up in October for some nice weather and shopping - of course!

NWA Day 5

We started off the day by sleeping in AGAIN! So, my point is this - maybe it's not a big deal to get a hotel that offers free breakfast if we can't get up in time to eat it! It's ok though, the girls don't seem to mind waking up and eating lunch! Anyway, we ate at the Whole Hog Cafe for lunch with my friends from where I used to work. I really do miss them but then I think do I miss work.... nah. Ok, maybe sometimes I do!

Mike was able to get out of work early today which allowed me some time without the kids! I dropped him and the girls off at Chuck E Cheese (yes, they went there again) and I went to the local scrapbook store and then on to the mall. We then went back to the hotel so Kaylee could get her nap - trust me, she needs her nap even when she's on vacation! When she woke up, we were off to John and Beth's house for dinner. I know Beth's going to disagree with anything I say from here on but really, the food was great, and we would rather have home cooking than go out to dinner every night with the kids. Honestly, everything was delicious! (don't forget to send the salsa recipe) We had a very nice time watching the kids play together and just sitting around catching up on things since we've been gone. Really, Beth, don't let me see any negative comments on my post from you or John, I promise, everything was wonderful!

With that said, it's now time for us to hit the pillows! I just know we're going to miss breakfast again tomorrow!

Day 4 in NW Arkansas...

This morning Mike and I went to the dentist! I know what you're thinking "Aren't they on vacation?". Well, yes, we are but we also love our dentist so why not get the chompers cleaned while we're here! All went well there. Afterwards, it was off to lunch at Lin's Garden for some good Chinese food with some friends I used to work with. The girls and I then headed back to the hotel to find a message on our phone. They had fixed the pool problem (see yesterday's post). We went to take a look and yes, it had been taken care of. That meant it was time for a swim! We stayed in the pool for about an hour then headed back to the room for a snack and some nap time. When we were all rested, it was time for dinner. We ate at an old favorite place called the Catfish Hole. As in the past, the food was great and the service excellent! Here we are back in the room trying to decide what to do for entertainment for tomorrow! Night night all!
here's a pic of our dinner... well, the dinner that was still there when I took my camera out!

The fish and fries...
Hush puppies and cole slaw

Monday Monday...

The girls and I slept in today... we're on vacation so we're allowed to! After we woke up and got ready for our day, we spotted Krispy Kreme donuts for breakfast! The girls were excited to go in and watch them make donuts but as soon as we walked in, they shut the conveyor down! Oh well, maybe next time! We then took a run to the mall and ended up at Chuck E Cheese for some playtime! They loved it and wanted to go back again tonight! I then had to take Jennah to the Dr. as she's been coughing like crazy and nothing I've tried as far as over the counter medicines have helped. The Dr. said it was allergies and gave her a nasal spray prescription for her to take. We'll see if it helps any. After the trip to the Dr's office, we headed to Wal-Mart to get the medicine and then went out for dinner with some friends. Now we're back at the hotel just watching tv. The girls wanted to go swimming but in all honesty, I don't' think the pool filtration system is working so I'm not letting them swim in it. I've complained to the girl at the front desk but the mgr won't be in until tomorrow morning so I'm headed back to the front desk then. Not sure what's on the activity list for tomorrow but I'm sure we'll find something to do.

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day! This morning, our good friends JP and Paola had us over for a Fathers Day Breakfast. It was wonderful! We had eggs, bacon, toast, homemade scones with fresh whipped cream, blueberries which Paola and her two boys went out to hand pick, tea, coffee and orange juice with champagne! All I can say is Mike definitely had a better breakfast here than he would have if we were home! Thanks Paola and JP for having us over!

After visiting with them, we headed to the hotel to drop off Mike and the girls. I stopped by Wal-Mart to get some things we failed to pack - like a swimsuit for Kaylee and some drinks to keep in the room. Later in the evening , we went to Copelands for dinner. Love their food! It's Louisiana style - lots of cajun...mmmmm! We then had to make yet another run to Wal-Mart as the zipper on my purse broke and there was no way to keep it shut! Upon return, Jennah and I hit the pool and now were back in the room ready for bed! Until tomorrow, have a good night everyone!

Crawfish fettuccine! (the pic does not do it justice)
