Mom duty...

I was eating my lunch yesterday when Kaylee runs across the living room announcing that she has to go potty. So, she runs into the bathroom and does her business after which she yells "Mom, I went potty and I need you in here!" So I put down my lunch and walk across the house saying "Oh Kaylee you have perfect timing; you always seem to go when I'm eating lunch." So, I walk into the bathroom and she says "I went poopy so now you have to wipe my butt." I proceed to do the mom duty and while we wash our hands, she looks and says to me "Mom, I'm sorry I ruined your life." So I assure her that she has not ruined my life and she says "Yes I did." Again, I tell her "No, you have not. I promise." She looks at me again and says "Oh, ok, maybe just your dinner." So we giggle and off she goes. After all she and I have been through, the basic mom duty made her think she's ruined my life. If anything, she makes me think about things I normally would not have thought about. We love her (and Jennah) very much and wouldn't change a thing. Not even if it was in the middle of my dinner or lunch!

Trading Children...

The month of July is always busy for us as the kids are out of school and there are a ton of birthdays in our family to celebrate. It's also a time where the kids like to visit aunts and uncles. This past weekend, we dropped Jennah off at my mom's place and dropped Kaylee off at my brother's house. We've not had Kaylee stay anywhere without Jennah so this was a real test for her and us. Well, needless to say, she loved staying over with Missy and my brother. In fact, when they brought her over the next day, she told me "I want to stay at Missy's to be in her family so I can hang out with her." Too cute. Anyway, we took our nephew the next night so he could spend time with Uncle Mike (his favorite) and then we all took home our own children on Sunday. A fun weekend for all!
