Growing up Goth...

Not much happening around here lately so I'm going to tell you a Jennah story from the other day. We all had gone out to dinner and then we dropped Mike off at the Office Max store so he could run in and get some documents. The girls and I waited in the van. Jennah and I had the following conversation:

Jennah: "Mom, when I grow up, I'm going to be a goth."
Me: "A goth?" "What is that?"
Jennah: "You know, I'm going to wear long black coats and ripped jeans with my hair dyed black and purple. I'm also going to wear black nail polish and those necklaces with skulls on them."
Me: "Oh no you're not." "Not while you live in my house."
Jennah: "No mom, I'm talking about when you move out."

Should I be packing my bags? hhmmmm
(fyi, she saw this goth look on the Disney Channel!)

Furniture

It is my opinion that Mike hates furniture. I truly believe he'd be ok living with beanbags for seating and cinder blocks and plywood for tables. I can honestly say, any piece of nice furniture that we have has been chosen and or bought by myself with one exception of our couch and recliner - he did help pick those out. Well, this past weekend, I was on a mission! I went to our newest furniture store, IKEA, and spotted a tv console that I HAD to have! Yes, I was really getting tired of the cheap little particle board stand we had in our living room. I know, it's not the living room we use all the time and we hardly even use this room except to play Wii but still, people that come to our house see it. So, wasn't he just thrilled when I came home and told him about the box I had in the back of the van! Well, it took us just a few hours to put it together once we started. I love it. He on the other hand could care less although he did admit it was nice. So, I took some pics of our before and after and I just know most of you will agree with me. It is solid spruce, no particle board, and is very nice isn't it?

They grow so fast...

Why we love school uniforms: Well, when you have a girl who is a fashion queen, there is no argument about what she is going to wear in the morning. She can get up, pick out the color polo shirt she wants to wear match it up with the uniform dress, skirt or shorts and that's it. I don't have to listen to "Well, Sally has such an such brand jeans and I don't, etc. She knows what she has to wear and that's it.

Why I hate uniforms: You can only find them at the beginning of the school year so towards the end of the year, when your child has had about eight months of eating and growing (I swear she's drinking Miracle Grow when I'm not looking), nothing fits right anymore. I bought the next size up last August when school started because I knew she'd grow out of them. Well, she had on a uniform shirt on Friday and I made her take it off because I was sure it was one that she wore when she was in kindergarten... NOT! It was one that I had bought in the next bigger size! So, this August, do I go two sizes bigger and then maybe they'll fit towards the end of the year but in August, she'll look like she's got a tent wrapped around her? I'm not sure what I'll do. All I know is that for now, I'll tell her to not raise her hand so high so her little belly won't show! Kids... they grow so fast!

Movie night

Mike and I had a chance to get out of the house childless yesterday. So, we took advantage of "quiet time" and went to see two movies. We saw Star Trek and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I'm going to admit here (because I don't think Mike will read this) that I'm not a Star Trek fan at all however, I did find the movie to be quite interesting and pretty good as a matter of fact. Of course I'd never admit that to him though! Wolverine was pretty good as well. Of course just watching Hugh Jackman made it a hit for me! After that, we went to dinner at Cracker Barrel. We both had chicken and dumplings...mmmmm!
