A busy day...

Today was a nice day for us. Mike took the girls to Jennah's soccer game this morning so I could get my hair done which by the way, I love! I went to a girl that I used to babysit! Yeah, imagine that! She did a wonderful job. Afterward, my brother, his girlfriend and their family came over for dinner for what we all call Spanish Heritage night. It's a yummy, easy meal of pulled pork roast, yellow rice and black beans with onions on the side. Afterwards, we sat around and played Rockband all night long. What fun ! We all have these hidden talents we didn't know about! What a blast!

Dinner at the Wilkinson's

Tonight we had dinner at Mike's mom's house. It was delicious so as usual, I ate too much! Pot roast, taters, carrots, biscuits and the works. It was nice to visit with them after all the holiday hooplah! We all had a nice time and always look forward to more of these kinds of evenings. The girls watched the Wizard of Oz while we were there. I remember when I saw that in the theater!

We had a visitor in our yard... Kaylee was laughing so loud and
kept yelling "Look mommy, A chicken!"

Where's Kaylee?

Kaylee received a new bear from her therapist for Christmas. She wanted to hold both of them on the way home from therapy which is when she usually takes a power nap.

Soccer...

Tonight we had soccer practice. Imagine, it was 65 degrees out! brrrr! Anyway, Jennah's coach informs me that she has to wear band-aids over her new earrings during the practices and games "in case someone accidentally tugs at her ear." I don't have a problem with this as ok, it can happen. I guess my issue is that his daughter had hoop earrings on! Ummmmm... The kids are 5 & 6 and might I add that they are all girls and are pretty conscious about not swinging arms and being aggressive yet. Even the other parents made comments after he spoke with me. Oh well, we'll do the band-aid thing but I bet he wouldn't have even noticed had Jennah not been so proud of her new jewels!

A break...

Kaylee and I caught a break today from our normal routine. Her speech therapist cancelled our appt which was fine with me! I look forward to those few days that I don't have to be on the road! So, we did what she wanted today. We got up and since she woke up dry, we sat in the bathroom with her on her potty seat for 30 minutes with her book to "read". She didn't go but at least she sat there. Then we ate dry cereal together on the couch while we watched Dora the Explorer - she loves frosted mini wheats without milk. It's not one of my faves but hey, it was her day too! Then, we colored and played with her little pony toys. By then, it was time for me to do some laundry which is a never ending thing at our house! She took her nap and then it was off to get Jennah form the bus stop. A relaxing day that I could sure use more of.

A Tuesday funny...

Ok, so we all know I'm the clown of the family, errr, even a bit quick witted at times. Call it a profession of mine, people love me for it - or not - anyway... Well, it seems I've passed the trait down to Jennah! For instance, I was helping her with her homework but we needed to sharpen her pencil. She had the pencil in her hand and by the time I got out the sharpener which took me a whole minute, she misplaced it. So, being me, I said "How could you lose your pencil so fast, you just had it a second ago." To which my princess replies "Well duh mom, I'm just like you. Like when you ask daddy to call your cell phone number because you can't remember where you put it." Ahhhhh, children, gotta love 'em. And yes, I'll admit it, it is possible that Mike spends more of his cell phone minutes calling me so I can find my phone! I can't help it, I don't keep it in my pocket nor do I wish to have the "gadget belt thingy" going on so it's attached to my hip at all times. I just can't seem to find the black and pink phone in my black and pink diaper bag! FYI, the picture - no one died or got hurt in the driveway, the kids were out playing with chalk and Jennah decided to trace Kaylee and have Mike trace her. I thought it was cute.

Girls Day Out

We had "girls day out" today and went to see the move Bolt. It's a cute movie about a little puppy and his actress friend. Jennah and Kaylee both got some laughs out of it but if you want my opinion, it's not a rated G movie so I think it was a little bit hard for them to follow. It's rated PG but honestly, I didn't catch anything that was offensive to me or anything that they wouldn't see on normal cartoons anyway. After the movie, we made a stop at Wal-Mart to pick up a few things. I was looking at some jewelry and Jennah was eyeing the earrings. She turned to me and told me she would like to have her ears pierced tomorrow. I asked her "are you sure? and she said yes but tomorrow. I told her we weren't going back to W*M tomorrow but if she really wanted them done, we'd do it today. She was good for that and sooo excited. She picked out some pretty pink heart "diamonds" as she calls them and lo and behold, had her ears pierced! She looks so cute and is very proud of her new look! She even wanted to call everyone from my cell phone to tell them! Geesh, my little girl is growing up so fast.

Bye Bye Kissmess

We took the tree and all the Christmas decor down today. Kaylee stood back and watched and after we were done, she looked and said "Bye Bye Kissmess." So Cute! Anyway, it's nice to have the living room back to normal. We also spent most of the day in the girls' rooms making donate, toss and keep piles. That went pretty well with Jennah as she is the giving type. Kaylee on the other hand is the wanting type and almost refuses to put anything in the donate and toss boxes! Next will be cleaning out the garage for Spring.
