A Jennah funny...

Kaylee's school has a student unloading area. It's a place where you drive up and the teachers get the kids out of the cars so us lazy parents don't have to... ok, really, it's for safety reasons. Anyway, for the last few days when I've dropped Kaylee off at school, one particular teacher opens Jennah's door and asks something like "Are you getting out?" to which Jennah replies "No, I don't go to this school." The teacher looks at me for approval, gives us a funny look and then shuts the door. So, this morning, that same teacher did the same thing. As we were driving away, Jennah says to me "Doesn't that lady know this is a uniform school and I'm not wearing a uniform so it's obvious I don't go here?" I looked back at her and said "Well, Jennah, she's not looking at your clothes, she's looking at your pretty face." Jennah replies: "Well, yes, it is quite awesome isn't it." I cracked up laughing... as usual! She is too funny!

The plan...

As I mentioned in my previous post, Kaylee had a nutrition eval yesterday. All went well. We discovered that Kaylee does not feel hunger which may be the reason she can eat a cheese stick and some juice for lunch and go without dinner. With that said, she is obviously not getting the nutrition she needs to grow. She's growing but very slowly - I'm guessing that would explain why my almost 4 yr old is wearing 2T pants! Now it is our job to "stretch" her stomach. We are going to do this through the use of high protein drinks and milkshakes. When her stomach gets bigger, she won't feel full all the time and maybe she'll learn to feel hungry. We'll eventually back off on the drinks and with feeding therapy continuing, hopefully she'll learn to eat new things that are good for her. For now, we'll wait and see what happens in this first month on the new plan. Wish us luck!

Kaylee's new friends...

I had to take Kaylee in for a nutrition evaluation at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg today. It is a brand new hospital that is absolutely stunning. On our way out, we walked through a bridge that connects the hospital to their new Outpatient Care Center across the street. Kaylee was quick to spot this duck in the walkway that she wanted to sit on. She was sooo cute. She gave the duck a hug and then told me "He's my new friend." They also had a clown fish and a dolphin which she also said was her friend and gave a hug to as well. We then watched the cars and the people below the bridge on the street. She was fascinated that we were so high up "in the sky" as she said. When it was time to go, she said "bye bye" to her new animal friends. Everything went well for the evaluation. I'll post more on that tomorrow. Enjoy!
